Amazing looking fish, the only breed of Bass I havent caught, hope to someday

  • smcdonald86:

If it has fins and lives in the water I will try to catch it! I am not partial to what type of bait I throw…Thats right to each his own!!

  • ravenkiller1:

Just my opinion, but I’ve always felt that live bait fishing is “cheating”. To me fishing isn’t just about catching fish…it’s about finding an artificial lure and a presentation that will entice a reaction (as in a strike) from a fish. Throwing something live at them that they’d eat anyway just doesn’t seem like much of a challenge to me. But to each his own.

That is the first time I ever have seen a peacock bass, very colorful.
Follow Christ and he will make U a fisherman of men.

  • urahoecallme:

I caught one peacock bass at night on a Rapala X-rap trolling around some docks for snook.

A buddy of mine caught one at night on a worm (even more weird) while bouncing a drop off for largemouth bass.

Unfortunately peacock fishing in snapper creek is nothing like it was ten years ago. I have been fishing snapper creek for 20 years. A lot of over fishing, bed molestation and weed killing chemicals have devastated the fishing.

  • smcdonald86:

…and released it minutes later after taking a picture. Just like all of my videos!

  • Mike835:

  • drewtonium:

did the recent cold weather have an effect on the population?

  • smcdonald86:

  • jaznjei:

in the everglades what are the fish im bound to see if i try to go fishing.?

  • fish8me88:

The peacocks in Florida are cichla monoculus and cichla occellaris which are completely different species than the 20lbers you see down in South Anerica. The large peacocks are called Cichla temensis.

Thanks buddy and I appreciate the offer! I just got back from Brazil so the peacocks here in South Florida (for me) are just practice for the big dance next year when I return to the Amazon for those “grandes”. Hope to see you on the water.
